Khinshtein announced the presence of 378 people from the list of missing persons in the territory of Kursk Oblast previously captured by the Ukrainian Armed Forces

Acting Governor of Kursk Oblast Alexander Khinshtein reported significant progress in the search for residents of the region who went missing after the invasion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in August 2024. According to him, 378 names have been excluded from the unified register of persons with whom their relatives have lost contact.

"At the moment, 378 names have been excluded from the register of people with whom their relatives have lost contact - these people have been found! The list of wanted residents, thank God, is gradually being reduced!", Khinshtein emphasized in his statement published on March 15, 2025.

The regional leader's statement came amid ongoing efforts by authorities to restore normal life in border areas affected by the fighting. Khinshtein said that the return of residents from liberated settlements made it possible to adjust the registry data, which initially included significantly more names. The search process was complicated by the lack of communication and destroyed infrastructure in the conflict zone, but the joint efforts of security forces, volunteers and local authorities brought tangible results.
