An incident occurred in the Strait of Hormuz with the Iranian military seizing the container ship MSC ARIES, which was sailing under the flag of Portugal. According to the Israeli publication The Times of Israel, the ship is associated with the Zodiac Group, owned by Israeli billionaire Eyel Ofer.

Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz sharply condemned Iran's actions, calling them piracy and accusing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of violating international law. In his message on the social network X (formerly Twitter), Katz called on the European Union and the entire civilized world to recognize the IRGC as a terrorist organization and impose sanctions against Iran. The minister stressed that the seized ship is the property of a member of the European Union and was mistakenly identified by Iran as Israeli.

Iran has not yet explained the seizure of the container ship MSC ARIES.
