US fighter almost crashed in Lithuania

25 January 2014. The American F-15C Eagle fighter, who was carrying out a special mission of the NATO air police in different locations of the Baltic countries, was forced to make an emergency landing in Lithuania. There was a landing in a small town of Siauliai, near the base of the Air Force of Lithuania. This information is provided by Lenta.ru, citing information from the Ministry of Defense of the Republic.

Precarious situation occurred yesterday, at the time, how to conduct training flights. The pilot was able to land safely despite the technical fault plane, which was the cause of it landing.

"The incident had no impact on the implementation of the goals set for the air police NATO», - reported in the department.

They also specified that the representatives of the US Air Force patrol the air space of Baltic started since January of this year. Earlier, the Belgians watched the sky Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, and only 1 September they were replaced by the American military. The job of the protection will last at least another four months.

I would like to remind you that the military contingents and aviation of all NATO countries have been sent to the Baltic States for almost ten years, beginning in March 2004. Thus, they made a decision on the problem of the republics that are members of the alliance and do not have the necessary military equipment for patrolling.
