Israel announces new strikes on Tehran, calls for immediate evacuation

On June 24, 2025, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued an urgent warning in Persian to residents of Tehran's 7th District, calling on them to immediately leave the area due to planned strikes on Iranian military infrastructure. "In the coming hours, the Israeli army will operate in this area, as it has done throughout Iran in recent days, attacking the Iranian regime's military infrastructure. Dear citizens, for your safety, we ask you to immediately leave the area marked on the map and not approach it. Your presence puts your lives at risk," the IDF said in a statement published on its Telegram channel and on the X platform.

Tehran's 7th District, located in the central part of the city, includes densely populated residential areas and key infrastructure facilities. According to Iranian authorities, about 300 people live in the district. The IDF's warning was part of an Israeli military campaign launched on June 13 to weaken Iran's nuclear and missile programs. The IDF has previously called for the evacuation of residents of Tehran's 3rd and 18th Districts, as well as areas adjacent to military facilities.

According to Reuters, Israel has notified the US that the operation will end soon, but the timing depends on Tehran’s actions. In recent days, the Israeli Air Force has struck more than 200 targets in Iran, including nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan, as well as military bases and factories that produce missiles and drones. Satellite images from Maxar Technologies showed significant damage at Fordow, including craters big enough to accommodate a multi-story building. In Isfahan, according to Bloomberg, the US avoided hitting research reactors to prevent a radiation disaster.

Iran responded with a massive missile attack, firing about 400 ballistic missiles and drones at Israel, killing 24 people, including victims in Bat Yam and Tamra. On June 23, Iran attacked the U.S. Al Udeid base in Qatar, firing 14 missiles, 13 of which were intercepted. U.S. President Donald Trump called the attack “weak” and thanked Iran for the warning that prevented casualties. The Wall Street Journal reported that Iran was moving missile launchers for possible further strikes.
