Syrian media reported a series of Israeli airstrikes in the As-Safira area in the eastern Aleppo province. According to local sources, powerful explosions occurred as a result of Israeli air force attacks targeting Syrian army and allied forces in the area.
Eyewitnesses noted significant destruction and fires at the sites of the strikes. The As-Safira region is known for its military installations, which have repeatedly become targets for Israeli attacks. It is assumed that the strikes are aimed at preventing the strengthening of the positions of pro-Iranian groups and the transfer of weapons to them.
Israel has previously carried out strikes in Syria, arguing that it is doing so to prevent Iran from gaining influence in the region and to prevent arms supplies to Hezbollah in Lebanon. Tensions between the countries remain high, especially after recent exchanges of strikes and allegations of possible attacks on strategic sites.
Recall that the situation in the Middle East has escalated in recent weeks. The Israeli Air Force attacked southern Beirut, where Hezbollah facilities are located, and Yemen's Houthis announced the launch of a hypersonic missile at Israel's Nevatim airbase. In addition, a Houthi missile was reportedly intercepted in the Dead Sea region, which underscores the growing regional tensions.
