According to experts, by such measures, the United States of America intends to neutralize Russia's build-up of its power in the Mediterranean Sea and in the region as a whole, especially against the background of regular dispatch of warships armed with cruise missiles to the eastern part of the Mediterranean.

“Washington realizes that they are losing control of the Mediterranean very quickly. A few years ago, Russian ships used the Mediterranean Sea rather as a transit section, but now the presence of Russian warships here is considered the norm, which the United States does not intend to put up with ”, - the expert marks.

At the moment, there are no official comments from the Cypriot authorities in this regard, however, given the situation with the possible lifting of sanctions, the authorities, obviously, are still actively considering such a step.
