A Chinese reconnaissance unmanned balloon approached the US borders.

The US Department of Defense reports that US patrol forces have detected an unmanned balloon equipped with a surveillance system and sensors approaching the country's borders. The balloon is currently in international airspace and does not pose any physical or military threat. However, at the same time, the balloon is actively monitoring the US military and bases, but due to the characteristics of the flight of the balloon, this does not allow taking any measures to counter it.

“We are confident that this high-altitude reconnaissance balloon belongs to the People's Republic of China. The balloon currently flies at an altitude well above commercial air travel and poses no military or physical threat to people on the ground.", according to Pentagon officials.

Against the backdrop of the current situation, the President of the United States was informed. However, for the time being, the United States cannot do anything with respect to the balloon, since the latter is in international airspace and, as a result, any measures taken against it can be regarded as military, which will immediately entail a response from China.
