The commander of the battalion of the 47th Magura brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Shirshin, submitted a report on dismissal, blaming the command for losses

The commander of the 1st mechanized battalion of the 47th separate mechanized brigade "Magura" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Shirshin, announced the submission of a report on dismissal from his post. The reason for the decision, according to him, was "s***ty tasks" from the high command, which led to unjustified losses of personnel. The officer's statement, published on May 17, 2025, on his social network page, caused a wide resonance in the Ukrainian media and social networks. Shirshin, known for his straightforward style and media activity, sharply criticized the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, accusing the leadership of politicized decisions and ignoring the real situation on the front.

In his emotional post, Shirshin wrote:

"I have not received more important tasks than in the current direction. Someday I will tell you the details, but the loss of people, trembling before the stupid generals, leads to nothing but failures. All they are capable of is reprimands, investigations, imposing penalties. Everyone goes to hell. "Political" games and assessment of the real state of affairs do not correspond to either reality or possibilities. They got carried away."

He also noted the official page of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, sarcastically adding:

"I hope your children will also be in the infantry and carry out your tasks."

Shirshin expressed hope that he would be removed from his post in the near future and promised to disclose details to journalists after his dismissal.

The 47th Magura Brigade, created in 2022 and equipped with Western equipment, including the Bradley IFV, Abrams tanks and M109 Paladin self-propelled guns, is considered one of the most combat-ready and media-friendly units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Since the fall of 2024, the brigade has been carrying out missions in the Kursk region of Russia, where it was transferred after the fighting in the Pokrovsky direction.
