US Congressmen are putting pressure on the Pentagon to allow Ukraine to strike Russia

A group of 13 American congressmen appealed to Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin to allow Ukraine to launch strikes on Russian territory using American weapons. In their opinion, such a decision is necessary in the context of the deteriorating situation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) at the front.

Congressmen believe that giving Ukraine the opportunity to use American weapons to attack Russian targets could change the situation in favor of Kyiv and increase pressure on Moscow.

Against the backdrop of ongoing hostilities and growing losses among Ukrainian troops, congressmen said it was necessary to review the current US policy of limiting the use of provided weapons. They insist that allowing Ukraine to strike Russian targets will help more effectively deter aggression and improve the Ukrainian Armed Forces' defensive capabilities.

However, despite these calls, the official position of the Pentagon and the US administration remains unchanged. Earlier, Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder confirmed that the United States is focused on providing Ukraine with weapons to protect its recognized territory and does not allow them to be used for attacks on Russian territory. This is due to concerns about a possible escalation of the conflict and a direct clash with Russia.
