Lavrov did not allow Ukraine, together with NATO, to conduct military exercises in the Sea of Azov

Lavrov "broke off" the plans of Ukraine and NATO to conduct military exercises in the Sea of Azov.

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation spoke out against Ukraine’s intention to hold joint exercises with NATO in the Sea of Azov. According to Sergey Lavrov, military exercises held in the Sea of Azov are provocative and violate Russia's national interests.

“Now Ukraine wants to call the NATO exercises in the Sea of Azov, but there it will be impossible to pass there, because our agreement with Ukraine requires mutual consent for the passage of warships into the Sea of Azov. But they want it, and they are actively indulged in this. There is a mood to modernize the transport infrastructure in Europe so that American heavy weapons, and probably the weapons of other NATO countries, make it easier to choose our borders, frankly provocative exercises, not ours with China in Siberia, but in Ukraine, Georgia and Black Sea "- said the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

It should be clarified that in view of the existing agreement between Russia and Ukraine on the Sea of Azov, Ukraine cannot unilaterally conduct military exercises in this region. Any attempts to do this without Russia's consent will not only lead to political disagreements between the two countries, which will obviously worsen relations, but in fact, will enable Russia to block Ukrainian warships in the Sea of Azov.

“Most of the Ukrainian warships are now in the Sea of Azov. If Ukraine decides to violate the agreement reached, they can remain there forever. ”, - emphasizes the specialist.

It should be noted that Ukraine has not commented on the current situation, however, it will obviously look for ways out of it.
