Pobeda low-cost airline is strongly recommended to replace Boeing 737 MAX with MS-21

The Russian government recommends “Pobeda to buy domestic MS-21 instead of 737 Max.

On Friday, March 21, the Vedomosti newspaper published a message that the commission on the defense industry complex, headed by Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov, proposed Pobeda Airlines to consider buying thirty Russian medium-haul MS-737 aircraft instead of the Boeing XNUMX Max.

As follows from the publication, the Russian government has not yet allowed the 100% subsidiary of Aeroflot, the low-cost airline Pobeda, to purchase an additional thirty Boeing 737 Max aircraft. Borisov's subcommittee recommended that Pobeda acquire Russian MS-21s.

Pobeda applied to the government commission on import substitution with an application for approval of an order for fifty Boeing 737 Max. Approval was obtained for the purchase of twenty aircraft. Deliveries are scheduled for 2019 - 2021.

The issue of the acquisition of another thirty Boeing by the subcommittee on the military-industrial complex in December 2018 has not been approved. It has not been submitted to the government commission. The publication cites the Deputy Prime Minister's comment on this matter.

In particular, he emphasized: “The question of the purchase of 30 Boeing by Pobeda in 2022 has not even been submitted to the government commission on import substitution. He is on the agenda ".

The publication of the publication notes that there is no purpose to disrupt the purchase of Pobeda. The representative of the Deputy Prime Minister clarifies that we are talking about the compatibility of the investment program of the state company with the plans of Russian manufacturers: "The larger the output, the cheaper, in the end, the production and the price of the final product".

Aeroflot received recommendations to revise the delivery schedule for the ordered MC-21s, taking into account the interests of Pobeda. Serial production of MS-21 is planned to begin in 2021. The aircraft is currently undergoing certification.
