The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, having spent billions, stopped the development of a unique drone

The Russian Defense Ministry has stopped developing a unique drone, spending 3 billion rubles.

The Russian edition of Vedomosti reports that the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, having spent more than 3 billion rubles to develop a unique unmanned aerial vehicle "Altair", decided to abandon the further implementation of this project.

The project of the Russian unmanned aerial vehicle "Altair" is positioned as a promising drone, capable of carrying out long flights at high altitudes. Until today, this aircraft was considered a serious breakthrough in the implementation of unmanned systems by Russia, and the three prototypes created have already reached the stage of flight tests. Nevertheless, what exactly caused the refusal of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation to further implement this project remains unknown, but given the enormously spent money, there are many questions about why the UAV, previously considered promising, suddenly ceased to meet the needs of the Russian army.

“I can understand when the test stages reveal multiple flaws requiring the complete processing of the aircraft, but when more than 3 billion rubles are spent on the drone, and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, even before it reaches the test stage, decides to abandon the project, this is alarming”, - the expert Avia.pro marks.
