Recruitment of accused and suspects into military units to participate in the SVO has begun

Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the FSB, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Federal Customs Service and bailiffs joined in the recruitment of suspects and accused into military units participating in the special military operation (SVO), Kommersant reports. The leadership of these departments has been instructed to establish active interaction with military registration and enlistment offices and invite physically healthy defendants in criminal cases aged 18 to 65 to serve.

Participation in a special military operation provides such individuals with a unique opportunity: they are guaranteed the suspension and then termination of criminal prosecution, as well as the expungement of their criminal records. This decision is aimed at increasing the number and combat effectiveness of Russian military units involved in the Northern Military District.

However, the reaction to this news was very mixed. This is due to a series of high-profile murders committed by former members of the Wagner PMC, also recruited from former prisoners.
