American fighters are seen in the sky over the Arctic.

On the eve of the day, the US Navy carrier strike group, led by the aircraft carrier Harry Truman, which only recently left the eastern part of the Mediterranean, entered the Arctic waters and headed for the coast of Norway. At the moment of movement of the carrier strike group, American fighter jets were seen in the skies over the Arctic, imitating the cover of a group of warships.

The main reason for the appearance in the Arctic waters of the American aircraft carrier "Harry Truman" is its participation in large-scale military exercises to be held in Norway. In addition to maritime assets, combat aircraft will take part in the exercises, as well as about 45 thousand troops.

It should be clarified that carrier strike groups have not entered the Arctic waters for nearly three decades. Nevertheless, it is important to take into account the fact that NATO military exercises will be conducted near the borders of Russia, and, their main goal, most likely, is to work out combat operations on the border with this country.

“We intend to demonstrate the power and flexibility of our naval forces. For almost 30 years, our carrier-based aircraft did not operate in the weather conditions inherent in the Arctic. Now, the crew members show that the aircraft carrier, with the presence of an impressive wing, is capable of realizing its capabilities anywhere in the world. ”, - stressed the US military command.

According to preliminary data, up to a hundred and fifty aircraft and helicopters will take part in the military exercises “Trident Juncture 2018”.
