NATO begins patrolling the airspace of the Baltic and Poland

11 March. Philip Breedlove, Commander-in-Chief of NATO, made recommendations on the need to start patrolling the airspace of Poland and Romania. This became necessary so that NATO could control the situation in Ukraine as a whole, and in the Crimea in particular.

Patrols will be made by AWACS aircraft. Due to the fact that these air forces are in direct subordination to the Allied Forces, patrols will begin strictly on time, namely 12 March of this year.

According to the NATO commander-in-chief, this measure will control the movement of all armed forces on the Crimean peninsula. This measure is forced: the NATO Armed Forces are obliged to protect their members. Accordingly, after the governments of Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Estonia expressed their concerns about the ongoing unrest near their borders, the alliance decided to monitor its territories.

It is specified that patrolling airspace will be carried out only within the borders of NATO. Just a few days ago, the US government decided to send 18 fighters to control the situation in the region F-16... Several air tankers will also go to this region.

The reconnaissance vehicles will take off from the airbases: Wadington (Great Britain) and Geilenkirchen (Germany).

Thus, NATO continues to build up its military power at the borders of Ukraine and the Crimea. In addition, the NATO leadership said that reconnaissance data will not be transferred to the government of Ukraine.

Many experts believe that this is a response from the West to regular military exercises that Russia conducts near the Ukrainian borders.
