On the night of December 11, 2024, the Russian city of Taganrog was attacked by Palyanitsa drone missiles. This was reported by Shot. Local residents reported a series of explosions, presumably caused by the operation of air defense systems. According to preliminary data, an industrial enterprise was damaged, and 14 cars burned in the parking lot.

The Palyanitsa drone missile is a Ukrainian development with a range of up to 750 km and a speed of about 900 km/h. The device's warhead weighs from 30 to 50 kg, which makes it an effective means of hitting various targets at a considerable distance. The first successful use of Palyanitsa was recorded in August 2024.

Taganrog Mayor Svetlana Kambulova confirmed that the attack damaged a boiler room on Tsiolkovsky Street, which led to the disconnection of heat supply in 27 apartment buildings. Specialists plan to restore the boiler room by midday.

Taganrog has previously been subjected to a massive drone attack. At that time, a series of explosions and air defense operations were reported, but officials claimed that the attack had been successfully repelled.

Eyewitnesses to the current attack reported hearing at least 10 explosions over the city. Videos are circulating on social media showing flashes in the sky, presumably from air defense systems.
