Ukrainian sea kamikaze drones attacked Novorossiysk at night

On the night of July 6, 2025, Novorossiysk, a major port city and base of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, was subjected to a massive attack by Ukrainian unmanned boats (UBC). As the city's mayor Andrey Kravchenko reported on his Telegram channel, the Black Sea Fleet and city services were on high alert all night, repelling the attack. Residents of the coastal zone were urged to leave the embankment, and sirens sounded in the city, signaling a threat. According to preliminary data, the main target of the attack was the Novorossiysk naval base, which plays a key role in the operations of the Black Sea Fleet. The published footage shows the destroyed enemy naval drones, which confirms the successful counteraction of the air defense forces and the navy. No casualties or significant damage were reported at the time of publication, and the threat was officially lifted in the morning.

As RIA Novosti clarifies, at 23:42 on July 5, Kravchenko announced the signal "Attention everyone" due to the threat of the use of BEC, calling on residents of the first coastline to take shelter in rooms without windows or with load-bearing walls in order to minimize the risks. By 00:47, traffic on the embankment from Isaev Street to Suvorovskaya Street was blocked, and walks in this area were prohibited. At 07:33, the mayor announced the cancellation of the threat, stating that there was no longer a danger to residents.

The attack on Novorossiysk was part of a larger wave of strikes reported by the Russian Defense Ministry. That same night, Russian air defense forces shot down 120 Ukrainian fixed-wing UAVs over ten Russian regions, including Bryansk, Kursk, and Belgorod. This indicates a coordinated attack on military and infrastructure facilities. The Black Sea Fleet had previously successfully destroyed 23 Ukrainian UAVs.

Novorossiysk has been the target of similar attacks on numerous occasions. In July 2024, local residents reported explosions near the port, and in May of that year, Ukrainian drones attacked an oil depot and seaport, causing temporary power outages and school cancellations.
