Non-standard hull forms of the Russian light aircraft carrier will strengthen the ship.

During the meeting with the Mil.Press FlotProm employees, Valery Polovinkin, scientific director of the Krylov State Center, informed them about what changes are planned to be made in the light multipurpose aircraft carrier (LMA), which will enter the Russian navy.

The staff of the center is developing a technology that will provide a significant reduction in ship resistance on the move. We are talking about changing the shape of the hull and semi-tamagoranny contours of LMA. Polovinkin clarified that if a slight refinement of the individual parts of the body was carried out, the resistance index would decrease by 1,5 - 2 percent. But experts, using proven technology, were able to achieve a reduction of this indicator to 20 percent.

Due to this, with the same engine power, an aircraft carrier will be provided with a large power reserve. In addition, due to changes in the shape of the hull, the ship’s stability will increase with great agitation.

There is an opportunity to place on board a multipurpose aircraft carrier a balanced wing. It will become the main weapon of the ship. That is, we can say that the LMA will be strengthened.

Polovinkin also said that there are two concepts of the new LMA. Both are developed by experts of the Krylov Center. Technological solutions allowed to increase the area of ​​the flight deck. This is done by solving the problem of placing the wing on the ship. In addition, the issues of hydrodynamics and enhancement of the shock component were solved.
