New conditions of Japan, forcing Russia to place additional aircraft on their islands

Japan called the terms of the conclusion of a peace treaty with Russia.

This week, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is due to arrive in Moscow to hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to available data, the Russian side will negotiate exclusively in the key of signing the peace treaty, however, as reported by the Japanese news agency Kyodo, Shinzo Abe "I intend to conclude a peace treaty with Russia only with the provision of guarantees for the transfer of the islands".

According to the publication “Kyodo”, Japan is fully aware that Russia will oppose the transfer of its territories, and therefore, Abe intends to rely on the transfer only of Shikotan Island and the group of Habomai Islands.

Experts, in turn, are confident that Russia will not transfer its islands to Japan under any circumstances, as Sergey Lavrov, head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, has already spoken about. Moreover, taking into account the provocations created by the Japanese side, the Russian military presence in the territories that are considered controversial in Tokyo can be further strengthened, including through the transfer of additional combat aircraft to this region.
