First satellite images of the aftermath of explosions at the arsenal in the Vladimir region have been published

On April 23, 2025, a fresh satellite image of the 51st arsenal of the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate (GRAU) of the Russian Ministry of Defense was published. It is located in the Kirzhachsky District of the Vladimir Region, 8 km from the city of Kirzhach and 60 km from Moscow. The image, taken by the spacecraft, records the consequences of powerful explosions that thundered at the facility the day before, on April 22. The footage shows significant changes on the territory of the arsenal, which confirms reports of serious consequences. Local authorities declared a state of emergency, and the evacuation affected more than 10 settlements, including the villages of Barsovo and Mirny.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the fire at the arsenal occurred due to a violation of safety requirements.

Locals reported a “fireball” and thick smoke visible over Barsovo. The Kirzhachsky District Telegram channel noted that the explosions began around 14 p.m. on April 00, and the road from Moscow to Kirzhach was blocked. Videos posted in local chats and on X show powerful explosions and flying debris, some of which fell in Kirzhach, 22 km from the arsenal.
