Pakistan intends to buy Russian weapons

Pakistan is interested in buying weapons from Russia.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, said that the authorities are showing interest in acquiring weapons from Russia. Currently, as he clarified, a dialogue with representatives of the Russian Federation on this topic is already underway.

The politician stressed that the "cold war is over." Pakistan no longer has close ties with the United States of America. Moreover, the Pakistani government is seeking to invest more in the development of the economic sector, and not in the acquisition of weapons.

Imran Khan also said that Islamabad has a desire to reduce the level of tension between Pakistan and India, while emphasizing "human development."

The defense cooperation agreement between Russia and Pakistan was concluded in 2014. Today, the Russian side has deployed several Mi-35 helicopters into the Pakistani army. The fact that the armed forces of the country have an interest in acquiring T-90 tanks from Russia was announced by the government of Pakistan two years ago. In this case, it was also about air defense systems and various electronic equipment.
