US President Donald Trump's executive order suspending international aid for 90 days will not affect ongoing military support for Ukraine, the Pentagon reported, stressing that all contracts for the production and supply of weapons to Ukraine, issued by the Biden administration, remain in force.
According to a statement from the US Department of Defense, Trump's order does not affect military assistance programs, including the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) and the Presidential Authority Development Assistance (PDA). This means that planned arms deliveries, as well as the use of the remaining US military stockpiles for Ukraine's needs, will continue in accordance with previously agreed schedules.
The USAI program, which funds new weapons production for Ukraine, is key to ensuring the sustainability of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Weapons contracts signed under the previous administration will remain in effect despite the order suspending aid. Systems such as artillery shells, air defense systems, and other equipment will continue to be delivered.
The PDA program, which allows the U.S. administration to directly send weapons and ammunition from its own stockpiles, is also exempt from the order. Pentagon officials say this ensures that Ukraine continues to receive the support it needs to conduct active combat operations.
The decision to suspend international aid for 90 days has caused a wide resonance in the international arena. Many experts and US allies expressed concern about the possible consequences for global support programs. However, the Pentagon assured that military aid to Ukraine remains a priority for Washington and will be provided in full.
