The plane could not land at the Alaska airport because of a seal lying on the runway.

When trying to land, the pilot of a light aircraft asked the dispatcher for the opportunity to go around, due to an unidentified object located on the runway of the local airport. Upon arrival of the specialists at the runway, they found a seal, which was resting right in the center of the runway, while, despite the attempts of the air harbor staff to drive the 200-kilogram mammal away, the animal remained lying.

As representatives of the Barrow airport later clarified, it was possible to drive the animal from the runway only with the help of a special sound alarm, which took about 30 minutes.

How exactly the seal got to the airport is still unknown.
