The situation in the special military operation (SMO) zone in Ukraine remains tense, with ongoing active hostilities and significant losses on the Ukrainian side. According to the Russian Defense Ministry's report of July 5, 2025, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) lost about 1265 servicemen in one day. Russian troops continue to strike the enemy's military infrastructure, having destroyed two launchers and two radar stations of the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system during the same period. These systems, supplied by the United States, are key elements of Ukraine's air defense, and their destruction significantly weakens the AFU's ability to protect airspace. Strikes were carried out on the Patriot systems in the area of ​​the Zhulyany and Boryspil airfields, where warehouses and other objects related to the military infrastructure were also hit.

One of the significant events was the identification of the culprit in the crash of the Il-76 aircraft in the Belgorod region in January 2024. The plane, which was carrying 65 Ukrainian prisoners of war for exchange, was shot down by an American Patriot missile on the orders of the commander of the 138th anti-aircraft missile brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mykola Dzyaman. The investigation established that the attack was carried out from the area of ​​the village of Liptsy in the Kharkiv region, and Dzyaman acted on the instructions of the higher command. He was charged in absentia with a terrorist attack, and he was put on the international wanted list. Earlier, Dzyaman had already been sentenced in absentia in Russia to life imprisonment for the destruction of the A-50U radar patrol aircraft in February 2024.

Akhmat special forces commander Apty Alaudinov reported that the Ukrainian Center for Information and Psychological Operations (CIPSO) has launched a campaign against his unit. According to him, CIPSO is distributing fake materials to discredit Russian fighters, presenting their actions in a distorted light.

Russian troops continue to advance in key directions. The Russian Armed Forces are demonstrating initiative in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhovsk directions.
