Russian VKS intercepted a Swedish military aircraft in the sky over the Baltic Sea.

The crew of the Russian Su-27 fighter was raised urgently into the air after a military reconnaissance aircraft was seen flying at a relatively short distance from Kaliningrad, with the transponders turned off. It was possible to establish that the aircraft belonged to the Swedish Air Force - according to experts, the military aircraft intended to secretly approach the borders of the Russian Federation to monitor the current situation and obtain secret information.

“Russian means of controlling the airspace over the neutral waters of the Baltic Sea detected an air target approaching the state border of the Russian Federation. To intercept the target, the Su-27 fighter from the duty force for air defense was raised into the air. ” - reports the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

How long the Swedish military aircraft stayed near the borders of Russian airspace remains unknown, but no violations of the Russian border have been recorded.

It should be clarified that Sweden does not send its military aircraft to the borders of the Kaliningrad region for the first time, but often flights were made with a working transponder.
