Russian President Vladimir Putin made a statement that Russia will continue to provide the Syrian military with all the necessary assistance to restore Syria and destroy the remaining militant and terrorist forces.

“The situation in the country [Syria] is gradually improving after the defeat of the main militant groups. However, the militants are still trying to fight back. I would like to note that the uncompromising struggle against the militants will be continued, we will provide the Syrian people with the necessary support. ”, - quotes the Russian president of the Tass news agency.

According to analysts, at the moment Russia is focused on modernizing its Khmeimim military airbase, which will make it possible to deploy more military aviation here, and to strengthen control over militants and terrorists in the Syrian Arab Republic. On the other hand, against the background of the agreements concluded with Turkey, the province of Idlib has been declared a demilitarized zone, in connection with which it is logical to assume that no large-scale actions by the Russian Aerospace Forces are expected in the coming months.

Earlier it was reported that Russia and Syria could begin an offensive operation on the last stronghold of militants at the beginning of next year.
