Despite the fact that earlier the Russian authorities claimed that they would fully adhere to the plan drawn up by Syria to destroy all terrorists that impede the establishment of a peaceful life in the Arab Republic, the negotiations between the Russian and Turkish leaders proved that Vladimir Putin decided to succumb to the proposal made by Erdogan , refusing to bomb the armed Syrian opposition, militants and terrorists in the province of Idlib.

The night before, negotiations between Vladimir Putin and Recep Erdogan ended in favor of the current Syrian government. As it became known, a demilitarized zone with a width of the order of 15-20 kilometers will be created around Idlib, which will be controlled by the Turkish military. In the event that the militants continue to strike at civilians and Syrian government troops, an offensive operation on Idlib may be resumed.

"At the meeting we considered this situation in detail and decided to create along the contact line of the armed opposition and government troops to 15 October this year a demilitarized zone with a depth of 15-20 kilometers. By 10 October 2018 on the proposal of the President of Turkey to withdraw from this zone heavy weapons, tanks, rocket launchers, guns and mortars of all opposition groups ", - said the Russian president.

The Syrian military source in turn stated that the agreement reached between Putin and Erdogan does not mean that the government troops will stop the offensive operation on the provinces of Khama (northern part) and Latakia (north-western part).
