Ankara’s refusal to fulfill the agreements with Russia on Idlib and the closure of airspace by Syrian air defense systems over the northwestern part of the country forced Russia to declare its refusal to provide and guarantee the safety of flights of Turkish drones, military aircraft and helicopters.

According to information provided by the head of the center for reconciliation of the warring parties in the Syrian Arab Republic, Russia cannot guarantee the safety of Turkish aviation after the Syrian authorities closed the airspace over Idlib. In other words, Russia has relieved itself of all responsibility for the actions of the Syrian military, and this is a very serious blow to the security of the Turkish Air Force.

“Despite Turkey’s presence of F-16 fighters, the latter have no long-range missiles and can be easily destroyed by Syrian air defense systems. At the moment, Syria avoided the defeat of Turkish combat aircraft over Turkish territory, however, in the event of attacks, the capabilities of the same S-200 air defense systems would be enough to bring down any Turkish aircraft that fell into the affected area. ”, - the analyst notes.
