Russia has transferred Tu-160 strategic bombers to Venezuela

Russian strategic bombers Tu-160 were transferred to Venezuela.

This afternoon it became known that the Russian strategic bombers, missile-carriers Tu-160 “White Swan” were transferred from the territory of Russia to Venezuela. All of this quickly caused a wave of panic in the American media, as there are fears that Russian strategic bombers may remain in this Latin American country amid Washington’s declarations of readiness to withdraw from the Medium and Small-Range Missile Elimination Treaty.

The reasons for the emergence of Russian supersonic Tu-160 missile-carrier bombers in Venezuela are still unknown, but experts point to the fact that they last visited this country in 2013 and, against the background of US attempts to demonstrate Russia from a position of strength, this may mean that Russia is ready to deploy its nuclear weapons near the American borders.

Previously, analysts have suggested that with Washington’s withdrawal from the Treaty on the Elimination of Medium-Range Short-Range Missiles, Russia may deploy nuclear and tactical weapons in neighboring countries, in particular, Venezuela and Cuba. However, in one of his latest statements Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov noted that Russia is not considering the possibility of deploying its nuclear and tactical weapons in these states.
