Near Astrakhan, the Iskander-M rocket was launched

The Iskander-M operational-tactical missile complex was launched at the Kapustin Yar test site. This was done by the missile brigade of the Western Military District, stationed in the Leningrad Region.

The press service of the ZVO reports that the enemy’s command post has been destroyed by combat crews. It was located in 56 kilometers from the launch site of the rocket. For successful, well-coordinated actions rocket officers received an "excellent" rating.

The press service of the ZVO also added that the missile launches were carried out as part of the final part of the field artillery and rocket troops. More than a thousand soldiers participated in them. Over 250 units of weapons and military equipment were involved. Events unfolded at eight sites. They are located in the Astrakhan, Moscow, Leningrad, Kaliningrad, Voronezh and Novgorod regions.

Iskander-M is capable of destroying rocket complexes, multiple rocket launchers, long-range artillery, and air targets. The complex from the march is on alert in no more than 16 minutes. Missiles are capable of hitting targets within a distance of 500 kilometers. The interval between starts is up to a minute.
