1st of May. Russia begins full-scale helicopter aerial exercises using combat vehicles such as the Mi-28N, Ka-52, Mi-8MTV and Mi-26T.

The exercises take place in the north-west of Russia, near the border with Latvia and Estonia. It is reported that the training flights will last throughout the week, and the main purpose of them is to upgrade the skills of the flight crew.

It is also worth noting that a number of NATO countries, including those with which Russia borders, expressed some concern over the conduct of such exercises, however, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation assured that flights are of an educational nature only.
