Russia views the series of pager explosions that occurred in Lebanon as part of a hybrid war aimed at destabilizing the region, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova. According to her, the organizers of the terrorist attacks were pursuing the goal of igniting a large-scale armed conflict and provoking a military confrontation in the country.

The explosions occurred as a result of the detonation of pagers used by Hezbollah fighters. According to preliminary data, the incident affected several thousand people, most of whom were Hezbollah members. The media are discussing various versions of what happened, including the possibility of a cyber attack, during which special programs or explosives were installed in the communication devices, causing them to detonate.

It was previously reported that some of the devices were equipped with the chemical substance PETN, which detonates when the temperature rises. Some experts also claim that the operation to blow up the pagers could have been planned with the participation of foreign intelligence services in order to weaken Hezbollah's position in Lebanon.
