Russian Zircon hypersonic missile launched from a warship for the first time

In Russia, the first launch of the Zircon hypersonic missile from a warship was made.

Sources in the power structures of the Northwestern Federal District told TASS that the Russian frigate "Admiral Gorshkov" launched the first hypersonic missile "Zircon", which is, among other things, the first launch of a hypersonic missile from a marine carrier in the world.

“The newest Russian Zircon hypersonic missile was first tested from a ship - project 22350 frigate Admiral Gorshkov shot Zircon from the Barents Sea on a ground at a military training ground in January. "In accordance with the Zircon state testing program, in early January of this year, Admiral Gorshkov test-launched this missile from the Barents Sea on a ground target at one of the military training grounds of the Northern Urals," said one of the agency’s interlocutors. Another source confirmed this information, noting that the “Zircon flight range exceeded 500 km.” The interlocutor also said that tests of Zircon from marine carriers in 2020 will continue. "After the completion of the test launches program from the Admiral Gorshkov, these missiles will be launched from nuclear submarines," the source said- приводит data Russian news agency "TASS".

For unknown reasons, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has not yet announced the success of the firing of the Zircon hypersonic missile, however, in the same January, some problems were reported with the use of hypersonic missiles, in particular, it was a question of the need to adjust a number of parameters during launch. and it is with this factor that the absence of official statements on the testing of a promising hypersonic missile capable of penetrating the positional areas of air defense and missile defense systems may be connected.
