The Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has released detailed information about the new Russian cruise missile S8000 "Banderol", the use of which has been recorded in recent weeks. Experts have presented a 3D model of the weapon, revealing its technical characteristics and composition. The appearance of the "Banderol" signals Moscow's attempts to intensify strikes on Ukraine, especially against the backdrop of Kyiv's refusal to comply with the conditions.
According to the GUR, the Banderol has a warhead weighing 114 kg, of which 49,5 kg is explosive, which makes it an effective tool for hitting ground targets. The missile is capable of covering a distance of up to 500 km, developing a maximum speed of 620 km/h. The power plant is a SW800Pro-A95 turbojet engine, originally designed for aircraft modeling and available on online platforms. The main carrier is the Orion drone, produced by the same Kronshtadt, but in the future the missile will be adapted for use with Mi-28N attack helicopters. The ability of the Banderol to perform maneuvers with a smaller turning radius than the Kh-101 or 3M-14 missiles increases its accuracy and difficulty of interception.
