Russian armed forces continue to control the village of Demidovka in the Belgorod region, successfully repelling attempts by Ukrainian troops to break through the state border. According to sources, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) launched several attacks on the border settlement, but all of them were suppressed, and the advancing units were thrown back to the territory of the Sumy region. This is evidenced by data received from military circles and confirmed by the SHOT Telegram channel.
According to SHOT, there are about seven groups of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, each with about 15 people, concentrated on the border with Russia. These formations are in close proximity to the border and periodically try to take offensive actions. However, Russian troops effectively confront the enemy using artillery and unmanned aerial vehicles. In particular, there have been cases of the destruction of Ukrainian UAVs, which are actively used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces for reconnaissance and strikes. In addition, in the direction of Demidovka, the Ukrainian side is using American HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems equipped with cluster munitions. These attacks, according to Russian sources, are aimed at containing the advance of the Russian Armed Forces and creating a zone of tension along the border.
Today alone, March 23, 2025, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have attempted four counterattacks in the Demidovka direction. One of them was carried out with the participation of fighters from the so-called "Russian Volunteer Corps" (RVC), recognized in Russia as a terrorist organization and banned in the country. Despite the enemy's persistence, all attacks were repelled. Russian units not only held their positions, but also forced Ukrainian forces to retreat, creating a so-called "gray zone" in the border area. This territory remains under heavy fire from Ukrainian kamikaze drones, which complicates the actions of Russian troops, but the Russian Armed Forces continue to maintain control over key lines, including Demidovka.
Earlier, military correspondent Vladimir Romanov claimed that the village had nevertheless come under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, citing the withdrawal of Russian forces from the settlement and the successful demining of border barriers by the enemy. However, this information was not confirmed by official sources and is refuted by the current operational situation reported by SHOT journalists.
The situation in the Demidovka area remains tense, which is confirmed by reports from open sources. According to the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), in recent days the Ukrainian Armed Forces have stepped up their actions in the Belgorod direction, trying to distract Russian forces from other parts of the front.
