The pilots wanted to land the plane to avoid adverse consequences, but a gust of wind prevented the landing. The plane went off course and crashed into an island in the middle of the Mekong River. The crash occurred 8 meters from the Lao airport. Strong winds with rain formed in Laos, Vietnam and Thailand.
