A Swiss airplane on solar batteries is preparing to perform a round-the-world trip.

The Swiss aircraft Solar Impulse 2, powered exclusively by solar energy, is preparing to fly around the world from the UAE capital at the end of February, and the end of the expedition is expected at the end of July.

It is assumed that if a solar-powered aircraft withstands all the tests, then this could be a major breakthrough in the creation of airborne equipment operating on alternative types of energy, in particular, on the energy of sunlight. Subsequently, solar panels can be fixed on conventional airliners, and even in the case of a small number of installed solar panels, fuel savings can be quite impressive, which will make air travel cheaper.
