A Su-34 plane crashed today in North Ossetia

A Su-34 aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) crashed in the mountains of North Ossetia during a scheduled training flight. The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed that both pilots were killed in the crash.

“In the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, in a mountainous area, a Su-34 aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces crashed during a scheduled training flight. The plane crashed in a deserted area. There is no destruction on earth. The crew died" - says the official statement of the Ministry of Defense, quoted by TASS.

The preliminary cause of the plane crash was identified as a technical malfunction. A VKS commission flew to the scene of the incident to conduct an investigation and clarify all the circumstances of the tragedy.

According to the republic's operational services, there were two pilots on board the Su-34. Their names have not yet been disclosed. Work is underway to recover bodies and collect aircraft debris.
