Sergey Lavrov: Russia will continue to bomb the opposition, militants and terrorists in Idlib

The Russian Foreign Minister spoke about the unenviable future of the militants holding Idlib.

Despite the conclusion of an agreement between Russia and Turkey on the organization of the demilitarized zone in the Syrian province of Idlib, Russia will continue in the near future a military operation against the armed opposition, militants and terrorists. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov.

In an interview with the French media, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov confirmed that the agreement between Russia and Turkey on Idlib is indeed temporary.

“The agreement is really temporary. The end of the story will be only when the power of the Syrian people is restored in Syria and all those who are in Syria, especially those who are not invited there, will leave this territory. This is clear to everyone. ”- said Lavrov.

Experts believe that the Russian VKS will resume air strikes on the positions of the militants next year, which, however, will depend on the fulfillment by the Turkish side of their direct obligations to disarm the militants and terrorists.

At the moment, the offensive operation on the last stronghold of militants and terrorists in the province of Idlib has been stopped, which allows the armed opposition to hand over heavy military equipment. Analysts, in turn, believe that in the near future, by holding an illegal referendum, Turkey may well annex the Syrian province of Idlib to its country, and therefore, the agreement concluded between Russia and Turkey is far from playing into the hands of Bashar al-Assad.
