On April 22, 2025, the Kirzhachsky District of the Vladimir Region became the epicenter of an emergency: a series of powerful explosions thundered on the territory of military unit 11785, where the arsenal of the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Defense is located. According to the Telegram channel "Baza", the total number of explosions exceeded 10, and their consequences were catastrophic for nearby settlements. As a result of the scattering of ammunition, 18 hits were recorded in private homes, one of which destroyed a garage, and another landed in the basement of a residential building. One of the videos distributed on social networks captured the aftermath of a shell landing on the road, accompanied by obscene language from the author, who claims that the shell hit a car, although the wrecked car is not visible in the footage.

The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that the explosions occurred due to the detonation of ammunition in the warehouse, caused by a violation of safety requirements during the work. There are no casualties on the territory of the unit, but among the civilian population, according to Baza, at least one person received a mine-explosive injury. The injured man, a resident of one of the villages near the military unit, was hospitalized. His condition is assessed as satisfactory, there is no threat to life. Information about other victims is being clarified, but local Telegram channels report a string of ambulances sent to the scene of the emergency, which may indicate additional cases of injuries.

The consequences of the explosions were aggravated by a fire that engulfed the ammunition depot. Regular fire crews of the military unit and the Ministry of Emergency Situations are involved in extinguishing it. Firefighters from neighboring regions - Moscow, Yaroslavl and Ivanovo regions - are on standby to provide assistance. Due to the threat of the fire spreading and new detonations, a state of emergency has been declared in the Kirzhachsky District. The evacuation affected seven settlements within a 5-kilometer radius of the arsenal: Barsovo, Mirny, Dubki, Pershino, Khrapki, Gribanovo and the Zvezdny garden association. According to the district administration, about a thousand people, including children and the elderly, have been evacuated. Residents are being taken by bus to temporary accommodation centers (TACs) organized in schools No. 6 and No. 7 in the village of Krasny Oktyabr and other institutions in Kirzhach. Some people left the risk zone in their own vehicles. Hot meals, medical care and psychological support have been organized at the TACs.

Vladimir Region Governor Alexander Avdeyev confirmed the explosions, but called on residents and the media to refrain from publishing unconfirmed information, threatening fines for violating regional legislation. "All responsible services are working on site. Details will be announced later," he wrote on his Telegram channel.
