Russian military aircraft destroyed 122 thousand militants and terrorists in Syria.

The head of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Sergei Shoigu, stated that in the three years of the Russian military presence on the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic, the Air Force of the Russian Federation made more than 40 thousand combat sorties, destroying during this period about 122 thousand militants of various radical groups and Islamic State terrorists (ISIS, a terrorist group officially banned in Russia - Ed.).

According to the head of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, for the entire period of the presence of the Russian HQs in the SAR, it was possible to liberate about 95% of the territory of the Arab Republic, which makes it possible to establish a peaceful life in almost all regions of the country.

At the moment, in Syria, the threat comes mainly from four regions, in particular, we are talking about the province of Idlib, where, according to the data, there are about 100 thousand militants; the volcanic plateau on the border of the provinces of Damascus and Suweida, still held by the terrorists of the Islamic State; the region in eastern Syria (coast of the Euphrates River - ed.); desert area on the border of the provinces of Deir ez-Zor and Homs.

According to analysts, if in the coming months the situation in Idlib is not normalized, then Russia, Iran and Syria will launch an offensive operation on this region, thereby completely returning the entire western part of the Arab Republic to the control of the Syrian authorities.
