Tonight, an alarm sounded at the Engels strategic aviation airbase.

Residents of Saratov and neighboring settlements report that a siren was turned on at the Engels-2 airfield tonight. Whether the siren is an air raid signal or a missile threat is still unknown, however, on December 5, 2022, a military airfield was attacked by an unmanned aerial vehicle, the consequences of which can be seen on satellite images.

On the video frames, you can see the moment the siren was turned on at the base of the Russian strategic aviation. Initially, the sounds of the siren were perceived by the locals as a signal of the threat of rocket attack, however, later there was information that the siren sounded exclusively within the military facility and there was no threat to the civilian population.

“The siren was on the territory of the military unit. Nothing threatens civilian infrastructure”, - said the deputy head of the Engels district Evgeny Shpolsky.

At the moment, there are no official statements regarding the included siren, however, an emergency situation could be worked out in a similar way, although the very fact of turning on the alarm frightened the local residents quite strongly.
