Slovakia: Russian fighters have long been obsolete

Slovakia has not noticed the power of Russian fighters MiG-29.

The Minister of Defense of Slovakia stated that the Russian MiG-29 fighters, currently in service with the air forces of this country, are morally obsolete combat vehicles that will need to be replaced by more modern fighters, in particular, the American multi-purpose fighters F -16.

"We chose the best solution, because American F-16 are more modern machines that we can afford to buy", - said the head of the Ministry of Defense of Slovakia Peter Gaidos.

At the moment, we know that it is about buying 14 American fighters F-16, which will gradually change the MiG-29 fighters. Despite the statement made, the Ministry of Defense of Slovakia did not name the cost of the contract concluded with the US.

On the other hand, experts have not ruled out that Slovakia will continue to operate the MiG-29 fighters for at least another 7-10 years, due to the fact that it is planned to allocate 1,3 billion dollars for the modernization of the aircraft existing in the Air Force.

* MiG-29 is a fourth generation Soviet / Russian multipurpose fighter developed by the MiG Design Bureau.
