US and Turkey are considering the issue of sending warships to the Black Sea

The United States wants to introduce warships into the Black Sea.

US Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Walker, during a press briefing on Monday, said that the United States of America is concerned about safety and freedom of navigation in the Black Sea. According to Walker, this issue is now being actively discussed between Washington and Ankara, but in the near future an increase in the American military presence in this region is possible.

“With regard to the Black Sea, Turkey plays a crucial role. We also want to work with Turkey in the field of security on the Black Sea and freedom of navigation. Nevertheless, I think that there are things that we should now look at, which we may not have looked at before - to increase our presence in the Black Sea, whether on a bilateral basis (between the US and Turkey - Ed. ) or under the auspices of the EU "- said Walker.

According to expert estimates, the United States of America is only looking for a reason to introduce its warships into the Black Sea and to achieve the possibility of unhindered passage through the Kerch Strait into the Sea of Azov. Nevertheless, all this can be the cause of the strongest tensions in the region, including with the involvement of Russian warships and combat aircraft in patrolling the Black Sea.

Earlier, the US special representative for Ukraine said that one of the most effective measures in response to the conflict that occurred in the Kerch Strait a few weeks ago could be the closure of European ports for Russian ships.
