US cancels F-35 demonstration flights at Aero India 2025 due to Russian Su-57

The United States has cancelled the flight programme of its latest fifth-generation F-35A fighter jets at the Aero India 2025 international aerospace exhibition in Bangalore, India. According to Russia's Ambassador to India Denis Alipov, the decision is related to the participation of the Russian Su-57E, which will be presented at the Indian air show for the first time.

"As practice shows, our rivals are not ready for a fair fight with us. Having learned about the demonstration of our Su-57 at Aero India, American companies abandoned the F-35A and F-16 flight programs", Alipov said in an interview with TASS.

The ambassador also stressed that Russia adheres to the principles of open competition in the sphere of military-technical cooperation, but it remains important that this competition does not harm partnership relations.

Aero India has been held since 1996 and is considered the largest platform for demonstrating new models of military and civil aviation in Asia. This year it is being held for the 15th time and will last from 10 to 14 February at the Yelahanka Indian Air Force base. The world's attention is focused on the Russian Su-57E, the export version of the latest fifth-generation fighter, which is participating in the international air show for the first time.

The US decision to cancel the F-35 demonstration flights has caused a wide resonance. Previously, it was expected that the American aircraft would become one of the main exhibits of the air show, which would allow them to demonstrate their characteristics to potential customers. However, now the US will limit itself to a static exhibition and closed-door negotiations.

The Su-57E, which is on display at Aero India, is the export version of Russia's fifth-generation fighter jet. The aircraft features advanced stealth technology, high maneuverability, and an advanced weapons suite. India has shown interest in acquiring advanced combat aircraft in recent years, and the Su-57E's presence at the show could play a significant role in that process.
