U.S. sends unnamed number of GLSDB missiles to Ukraine

The United States nevertheless handed over GLSDB missiles to Ukraine, but did not advertise it.

The package of military assistance to Ukraine still included GLSDB ammunition for HIMARS missile systems. The United States did not officially advertise the transfer of these particular ammunition, however, the list of military assistance includes the position “ammunition for M142 HIMARS systems”, which, as it turned out, are GLSDB ammunition.

The supply of GLSDB ammunition to Ukraine creates a very serious danger, since the range of these ammunition is, in fact, GBU-39 planning bombs with an upper booster block. The maximum range of hitting targets for such ammunition is about 150-170 kilometers. This almost doubles the affected area by these systems, jeopardizing even positions and objects remote from the front line.

It is not known exactly how much GLSDB ammunition Ukraine could receive, however, we are talking about no more than a hundred of this type of ammunition due to their limited amount in US stocks.

It was assumed that additional HIMARS systems would also be transferred to Ukraine, however, such systems are not indicated in the list of supplied weapons. This may indicate, among other things, that the United States has a shortage of such systems.
