US imposes sanctions on 400 people and companies for supporting Russian military-industrial complex

The United States has expanded its sanctions list to include 400 new individuals and companies involved in supporting Russia in the ongoing conflict with Ukraine. The sanctions target those who help bolster Russia's military power by helping it circumvent international restrictions and by supplying prohibited goods used in the production and modernization of military equipment, State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said.

The list includes companies from various countries, such as Malaysia, China, the UAE, Turkey, India and Thailand. These enterprises, according to the State Department, were involved in the supply of microelectronics and aircraft components to Russia.

In addition, the sanctions apply to Russian companies that acted as intermediaries and importers of sanctioned products, as well as enterprises engaged in the production and repair of military equipment. Among them were several subsidiaries of Rosatom, as well as companies involved in the implementation of large energy projects, such as Arctic LNG 2, engaged in the transportation of equipment for this project. Among other things, the restrictions fell on recently appointed deputy ministers of defense of Russia and a number of key Russian state enterprises.
