The US Treasury Department announced new sanctions against a number of Russian media groups and their executives. The sanctions target the media holdings Rossiya Segodnya, RIA Novosti, RT, Sputnik, Ruptly, as well as RT editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan and several top managers of this TV channel. Washington accuses these organizations of spreading disinformation and propaganda aimed at supporting Russia's position in the current international conflict.

It is not known how exactly the sanctions will affect Russian media, however, the US may prohibit its companies from cooperating with them. This includes search engines, news aggregators, etc.
