The United States issued a two-week ultimatum to Turkey for C-400, threatening the most severe consequences

Turkey delivered an ultimatum on Russian systems C-400.

The US State Department has issued a two-week ultimatum to Turkey to refuse to buy Russian S-400 Triumph air defense systems, threatening otherwise with harsh measures.

“Turkey has a little more than two weeks to decide whether to complete a complex arms deal with the United States, or risk incurring the most severe consequences by concluding an agreement to purchase the missile system from Russia”- CNBC reports, citing the US Department of State.

No official comments from Ankara have been made at the moment, however, as experts note, the only thing Washington can operate with in this case is the exclusion of Turkey from the F-35 fighter program. Previously, the possibility of imposing sanctions against Turkey and even the exclusion of this country from NATO was also considered, but Turkey threatened with symmetric measures, saying that it would close its airspace and territorial waters for aviation and the fleet of both the United States and NATO.

Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the decision on the C-400 is final.
