Turkey to buy Patriot complexes instead of Russian S-400

The United States has approved the sale of X-Numx billion dollars worth of Patriot complexes to Turkey.

Washington decided to approve the sale of Patriot missile systems to Turkey in the amount of about $ 3,5 billion. We are talking about the sale of 80 Patriot MIM-104E anti-aircraft missiles and 60 PAC-3 anti-aircraft missiles to Turkey, as well as related equipment (radar, mobile launchers, etc.), which, according to analysts, may indicate that Ankara plans to refuse from the purchase of Russian SAM S-400 Triumph.

Initially, Washington did not want to sell its Patriot complexes to Turkey, artificially delaying the solution of this issue, but after Turkish President Recep Tayy Erdogan announced Turkey’s intentions to acquire Russian C-400 air defense systems, in Washington they decided to make “competition” to Russian Triumph .

It should be clarified that the decision to sell Patriot missiles to Turkey was made only by the administration of the US president, but this issue has yet to be considered in the US Congress. Nevertheless, if Turkey is still approved of the sale of these complexes, it is likely that Ankara will want to postpone the contract for the purchase of Russian air defense / anti-missile defense systems or refuse to buy Russian complexes at all.

Previously, Saudi Arabia refused to buy Russian C-400 air defense systems, opting for the THAAD complexes.
